The Jordanian Businessmen Association participates in the second session of the Jordanian-Emirati Joint Economic Committee

Hamdi Al-Tabbaa, Chairman of the Jordanian Businessmen Association, participated in the meetings of the Jordanian-Emirati Joint Economic Committee in its second session, which was held via audio-visual communication technology on 3/6/2021, headed by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Eng. Maha Ali, on the Jordanian side, and Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates, in the presence of Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for UAE Foreign Trade, where they discussed many topics aimed at enhancing economic cooperation between the two countries in various fields, especially trade and investment.

Al-Tabbaa stressed the importance of the meeting in order to strengthen bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries in various economic and investment fields. Pointing out that the global crisis that we are going through today as a result of the Corona virus pandemic has shed light on the important of cooperation among countries as the most appropriate way to get out of this crisis, address it, and recover from it.
Al-Tabbaa stressed that the Jordanian-Emirati relations are distinctly historical and fraternal, and that Jordan is an important trading partner for the UAE, and the same is true for Jordan, in addition to the two sides' association with many bilateral agreements that have strengthened the process of joint cooperation in various political, cultural, economic, educational and health fields. UAE is considered one of the countries that support Jordan.
On the other hand, Jordanian expatriates play an important role in the Emirates, where they number nearly 200 thousand, occupying leadership positions in many economic sectors, besides their contribution to investing in the Gulf financial markets and their investments in the UAE real estate sector.
For her part, Maha Al-Ali stressed the strength of Jordanian-Emirati relations. She said that the UAE is an important strategic partner for Jordan at all levels and is keen to raise economic cooperation between the two countries to higher levels and to build on existing partnerships in many fields, where Emirati investments in Jordan are estimated at about 16 billion dollars, and the volume of trade exchange reached about 891 million dollars in general.
The UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi, affirmed the UAE’s keenness to develop economic cooperation with Jordan, and to expand the scope of this cooperation to include sectors that constitute basic pillars of the future economy based on innovation and knowledge, especially advanced technology and digital transformation applications.
Acting Chairman of the Jordan Investment Commission, Fereydoun Hartouqa, gave a presentation on the reality, opportunities and investment incentives available in Jordan. The Emirati side was also briefed on the ongoing preparations for Jordanian participation in the Expo 2020 Dubai, which is hosted by the UAE this year.
