The Jordanian Businessmen Association and the Jordanian Chambers of Industry welcomed at the Amman Chamber of Industry on Wednesday 15/3/2017 delegation of the German Industries Association (BDI) which represent a number of German industrial companies, in the presence of a number of members of the industrial sector in the Association and members of Jordanian Chambers of Industry. BDI is one of the largest industrial associations in Germany and Europe. It speaks for 36 trade associations and has more than 100,000 organizations under its umbrella, with nearly 8 million employees.

H.E Hamdi Al-Tabaa’a, Chairman of the Jordanian Businessmen Association, highlighted the role of the Association in attracting investment to Jordan through its counterparts in other countries. On the other hand, His Excellency expressed Jordan's desire to increase German investments since its recent development and industrial progress, which is one of the leading countries in the industry at the European and global level. He also expressed the hope that the Jordanian industry will benefit from the marvelous experience of the German industrial sector. His Excellency Hamdi Al-Tabaa’a referred to the agreement on simplification rules of origin and its expected role in enhancing trade exchange between Jordan and Germany on the one hand, Jordan and Europe on the other hand.

H.E Hamdi Al-Tabaa’a also mentioned the participation of the Jordanian Businessmen Association in the Arab-Saxony Investment Forum, held in Dresden, Saxony, Germany, in 2005. He noted that Saxony is one of the leading cities in the field of energy, renewable and solar energy, where Dresden is a hub for these industries.

Mr. Adnan Abu Al-Ragheb, Chairman of Jordan Chamber of Industry, highlighted the importance of German industries and investments to Jordanian industrialists. H.E Mr. Ziad Al Homsi, Chairman of the Amman Chamber of Industry, pointed to the weakness of Jordanian exports in general due to the recent political tensions in the region. Also, he pointed to the weakness of Jordanian exports to Germany and boosts them to a better level. He also referred to the new regulations and laws related to stimulating investment in Jordan and facilitating the work of investors. He pointed to the importance of the Kingdom's distinctive location as a major commercial center in the region. He also referred to the simplification of rules of origin and its role in enhancing trade cooperation between the two countries. He affirmed Jordan's long-standing desire to deal with Europe in general and Germany in particular to promote trade exchange between them.

On the other hand, Mr. Taher Nathir, representative of the BDI delegation and regional director for MENA region of Siemens, referred to the problems in the Middle East. He expressed his optimism of ending for the current crisis and the recovery of economy soon. He also indicated his desire to transfer the latest technologies and technical developments to Jordan, thus contributing to the creation of jobs for Jordanians through technological and technical projects.

Mr. Khaldoun Abu Hassan, President of the Jordanian-German Business Association, pointed to the role of the German-Jordanian University at the regional level as a whole and the competence of the graduates and their role in developing the various sectors they are heading to after graduating. He expressed his desire for Jordanian-German relations to be a model for economic and trade cooperation between countries. He also pointed to Jordan's desire to cooperate in the reconstruction projects of Iraq and Syria, and the fields of vocational, technical and medical training. In addition to the partnership in the field of information technology.

Mr. Ralf Schrauer, Deputy German Ambassador in Jordan, pointed out that Jordan faces an ongoing crisis and bears various burdens and pressure as a result of this crisis. He also referred to German Association (BDI) and the size of this entity, where it is the largest industrial Association in Europe. On the other hand, he pointed to the need to strengthen Jordanian exports to the European market and the need for the Jordanian industry to go to the European continent, where he expressed the readiness of the Germans to help Jordan to come to Europe.
