French investments in Jordan valued at $2b — JBA
14/02/2023
French investments in Jordan currently total about $2 billion, with a particular focus on the Kingdom’s water sector, according to the head of the Jordanian Businessmen Association (JBA), Hamdi Al-Tabbaa.
In a meeting in Amman on Monday, Tabbaa and the French Ambassador to the Kingdom, Alexis Le Coeur Granmaison, discussed strengthening economic relations between the two countries, enhancing cooperation between the two business communities, and prospects for future investments in promising economic sectors, according to a JBA statement carried by Hala News.

Tabbaa highlighted the JBA’s interest in strengthening and developing investment and trade relations between Jordan and France.

In terms of France’s current investments in Jordan, Tabbaa pointed to the key role played by the French-Jordanian Business Council, established in 1994 in cooperation with the French Employers Association.

During the meeting, members of the JBA board noted that the association is currently preparing to host an international business conference for French speakers next May.

The board members presented prospects for cooperation in the educational and tourism fields. They proposed the opening of a French university in Jordan to consolidate bilateral relations on the cultural level and contribute to the development of Jordanian education. Such a step, they said, would also reflect positively on future commercial, industrial, and investment cooperation.

For his part, the French ambassador stressed the importance of expanding bilateral relations in a way that enhances joint investments. He also highlighted the need to diversify trade exchange and increase trade volume, expressing the embassy's readiness to cooperate with the association to increase networking between the two nations’ business communities.

Granmaison highlighted the presence of many opportunities to increase cooperation in various fields, especially agriculture, which has drawn interest from the French side.
