Under the patronage of the Minister of Industry &Trade , HE Dr. Hatem Halawani , JBA hosted the 2nd meeting of the Jordanian- Romanian Business Council during 23-24 Feb. 2015 . The Romanian delegation was headed by HE Mr.Nasty Marian Vladoiu, President of the Union of Bilateral Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Romania and was attended by HE Mr. Bogdan Claudiu Filip, Ambassador of Romania in Amman, HE Ms. Maha Ali Secretary General of MIT deputizing the Minister , HE Dr. Muntasser Al Oqla , Head of the Investment Commission , and Mr. Issa Murad chairman of Amman Chamber of Commerce . Representatives of the two countries’ trade and economic sectors stressed the need to benefit from incentives offered by the Jordanian investment environment, especially in the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, presentations on the Jordan investment climate and cooperation opportunities , and the incentives offered by ASEZA were given by Investment commission representative Mr. Ahmad Zu'bi , Director for research & Policy and Mr. Peter Marji , Head of Marketing Devision , ASEZA. HE Mr. Hamdi Taba'a highlighted “promising” fields of cooperation between Jordan and Bucharest, such as tourism, energy, healthcare and ICT services . He said that this meeting takes place for the second time since the business mission that was co- organized by JBA and the Embassy of Romania to Bucharest during 19-21 Sept. 2013 upon the kind invitation of our partners at UBCCIR , during which we signed the Cooperation Agreement between JBA and UBCCIR that represents a step forward towards furthering the existing economic relations between the business communities , especially in the fields of prospective cooperation such as energy , renewable energy , industry , services and tourism , in addition to exploring the ways & means of utilizing the distinguished expertise in both parties in the waste recycling industry and IT sector .
In the field of services , he pointed out to many infrastructure projects that were achieved by Romanian contracting companies in addition to the distinguished relations on the higher education level as hundreds of Jordanian students received their higher education in Romania which contributed to closer social relations between the peoples of both countries and many Jordanian business men reside in Romania at the same time Jordan is hosting a large Romanian community . He added that Jordan is a rich country in historical and religious sites such as the rose city of Petra and the Baptism site being a destination for tourists from all over the world so we should encourage the exchange of tourists and cooperation between tourists agents to advocate for joint programs . He called upon Romanian business partners to consider the vast opportunities to develop the trade exchanges between us beyond the existing scope of exchanged commodities that does not reflect the potentials present in the Jordanian- EU Partnership Agreement , by using Jordan as a hub to the region and benefitting from the free trade agreements that open Arab and major world markets for the Jordanian commodities , and on the other hand , Romania being a gateway to Eastern Europe markets .. HE Ms Maha Ali , stressed the importance of utilizing the incentives offered by the free trade agreements that open world markets to the Jordanian exports and the fact that Jordan is a hub for the region while Romania is a gateway to Eastern Europe.
HE Mr. Bogdan Claudiu Filip, Ambassador of Romania in Amman, praised JBA role in enhancing the economic relations between the 2 countries , he added that this year marks the 50th anniversary for the diplomatic relations between both countries . Meanwhile, head of the Investment Commission, Muntaser Oqlah, noted that the Jordanian-European partnership agreement “did not achieve the aspired goals for the Kingdom”, particularly in increasing exports to the European markets and attracting investments from EU countries.
On the second day of the meetings , the Romanian delegation visited Jordan Industrial Estates Corporation, in Al Muwaggar and were briefed on the incentives and business opportunities present .
